Moong Dal Chilla

Hello friends, so today I will tell you the easiest way to make Moong Dal Chilla. In this way also we can prepare Moong Dal Chilla. It will be quite healthy and very crispy. And along with this, we will prepare Moong Latte for children’s school tiffin. Along with this we will make tomato chutney here. So let’s start the recipe.

ItemQuantity
Yellow Moong Dal (split)1 cup (soaked 3–4 hours)
Ginger1 inch piece
Green chili (optional)1
Cumin seeds½ teaspoon
SaltTo taste
WaterAs needed for grinding

Add-ins (optional but recommended):

ItemQuantity
Onion (finely chopped)1 small
Carrot (grated)¼ cup
Coriander leaves2 tbsp (chopped)
Capsicum (chopped)¼ cup
Hing (asafoetida)A pinch

First of all you will need moong dal here. You have to use yellow moong dal. So the weight of this dal is 300 grams. And after this you have to put the lentils in a bowl. Wash thoroughly with two to three waters. You can make these chillas for breakfast.

You can eat it as an evening snack or if you want, you can give it to your children for their school tiffin. So see, I have washed the lentils thoroughly. Soak these lentils for 2 hours. There is time, you can soak it for 6 to 8 hours. While the lentils are soaking, let’s make the chutney. I have bought 1 kg of tomatoes. You have to use well-ripe tomatoes to make chutney. Wash the tomatoes thoroughly and cut them into rough slices. Along with this we will also add onion here. So you have to cut the onion roughly in the same way. Here, I have taken a stainless steel pan. We will add two tablespoons of oil here. Here I am using vegetable oil. If you want to make it in mustard oil, you can also make it in mustard oil. One you have to add whole chillies in it.

And you have to add one to one and a half teaspoon of mustard seeds in it. Let the mustard seeds crackle a little here. We will add some roasted gram to it. There should not be roasted gram dal. You can add peanuts here. This improves binding and also tastes good. You have to shallow fry the roasted gram dal here for some time. Then you have to add some garlic to it. And add onion to it as well.

We will add some curry leaves to it and you have to cook the onion for some time so that the raw taste of the onion goes away. So look, the onion is cooked. I have added a little ginger to it. And after this you have to add roughly chopped tomatoes to it. If you get high bread tomatoes, you can use them. And I have added one teaspoon salt to it. You have to add one teaspoon of Kashmiri red chilli powder into it. This will give it a good color and our chutney will also become a little spicy. You have to heat the tomatoes well on high flame. After this, you have to reduce the gas flame to medium low. Let the tomatoes cook on medium to low flame for at least 8 to 10 minutes. The better you cook tomatoes, the better their taste will be and the raw taste of tomatoes will also disappear. So look, the tomatoes have rotted here. After this you have to add one cup of water in it. Mix the water as well and heat it well along with the tomatoes. Look, this base of tomato chutney is ready. Now you have to let the tomatoes cool here. As soon as they cool down a bit and become lukewarm, then you have to grind them. Do not grind it hot. Just grind it hot. When you operate the mixer, many times the chutney comes out of the jar due to pressure. So look at this, cover it from above here. You have to make a very fine paste of it. So make the chutney in this manner. You can also store it for two days. Idli, dosa, vada or you can make upma or chilla.

You can serve this with anyone. Now we will add seasoning on top. You have to add one spoon of oil. You have to add one and a half teaspoon of mustard seeds in it. Add whole chillies. And you have to add some curry leaves. And turn the gas flame to high. Let them crackle a little on high flame. And after this you have to add seasoning to it. Top with sauce. Mix it like this. And now serve it. Now here on the other side we had kept soaked lentils. You can see that I had soaked the lentils for 2 hours and the lentils have swollen well. So here you have to drain out all the water from the lentils and grind it little by little. Look, let us add some lentils here in the jar and add some water. Just a little batter, do not make it too thin. Ok? Cover it from above. And don’t grind it like this. You have to make a very fine paste of it and along with it you can also add some ginger, garlic and green chillies. So look here again I am grinding some lentils here. So I have added three green chillies.

Added one teaspoon finely chopped garlic. Added a little ginger. We will add some water. And you can grind this also here. This will give a good flavor and our chala will become a little spicy. So look at this, in this way you have to grind all the lentils and to get a good crunch in it, you have to add two tablespoons of semolina to it. You can add any kind of semolina, thick or fine. And you have to add two tablespoons of gram flour in it. Add one spoon of salt to it. And add a little turmeric powder to it. This will not give a good colour. And then you have to mix all the ingredients well here. So first of all your batter should not be thin here. If you feel that the batter is becoming thick then you can add some water here later. So you have to beat the lentils well here. Beat one side only for 1-2 minutes. Now see the batter is getting a little thick. Let’s add some water. Mix the water well. So the thickness should be like this. Only then will your chillas become crispy. Now here you will also get some vegetables along with it. So cover the batter and leave it for 10 minutes. Here you can use capsicum, onion, carrot, beans so that our chilla becomes very healthy and we get vitamin and fiber also. So look at the onion this way, you have to chop it finely. Ok? And in the same way, you have to cut the remaining vegetables also. Remove the seeds of capsicum. This is how you have to cut it into julienne pieces and cut it as finely as you can. You can add whatever vegetables are available to you. Ok? We will also add some beans. So look, I have finely chopped the beans like this. Similarly, you have to cut the carrots also.

If you want to grate the carrots and add them here, you can do so after grating them. So first I have sliced the carrot like this. Then we will do Julienne cutting of it. Collect and hold. And look at it this way, you have to finely chop the carrots also. So the vegetables have been cut here. And after this you have to take a pan. We will add a little butter to it. So see, I have added a cube of butter here. We will add a little oil, just a little. And you have to add one teaspoon mustard seeds to it. And look, let the mustard seeds crackle a little here. You have to add one teaspoon finely chopped ginger and some green chillies. You have to cook ginger and green chillies on medium to high flame so that their raw taste goes away. So look, ginger and green chillies are also cooked. Then you have to add all the mixed vegetables also. And you have to make the gas flame high. Cook the vegetables for 1 and a half to 2 minutes. We can also add it raw. But if you cook it and put it here, then even the kids will eat it and your Chilla will also become healthy and will taste great too. So see, the color of the vegetables has changed. After this, take out the vegetables in a plate. You have to add a little salt to it so that the Chilla does not taste bland from inside. So we are preparing this stuffing here. Along with this you have 100 gr. I have to buy cheese. Grate the cheese. You have to add a little salt to it also.

Mix the salt thoroughly. Ok? So your stuffing is ready. Look at the other side, we had kept the batter covered. We gave it a rest of 5 to 7 minutes so that the semolina etc. that we had added could swell well. You have to mix the batter well. Now here you will need a pan to make screama. So here I used dosa pan. Heat the pan well. Then you have to sprinkle some water. Bring it to normal temperature. You can also make this in a cast iron pan. So look, in this way you have to pour the batter from the bowl using a small ladle and just like we make dosa, you should rotate it in the same way like this. So here you have to make thin chillas. Should not be too thick. You have to pour a little oil here. You can apply butter. And in this way, your hair will remain thick. Level it by turning it over. Then as you do so, color will start coming into it. You have to keep the gas flame medium from the bottom side. As soon as it gets coloured, do not turn it over so that it gets cooked well from the other side also. So look at this, it is very nice, the color has come here. I have cooked the chilla from the other side also. This is how you have to add the vegetables. First see, you can add more or less vegetables as per your choice. Then you have to add cheese on top. And don’t fold the screama like this. And after folding, serve it hot with chutney. And along with this, we will prepare soft and spongy chillas.

Which you can give for children’s school tiffin. So you should make all the chillas in this manner. And in this way you can serve it in three pieces instead of just one. So, they are very tasty. They are healthy. Are rich in proteins. Look at how amazing the Chillas have become. Now here we have half the batter left. Whatever vegetables are left over, you have to mix all of them in the batter. Now, in this soft and spongy chilla that you will make here, you can use raw vegetables if you wish and you can add them raw as well. So look, you have to mix the vegetables well here. Check the salt and pepper in this way. If you want to make it extra spicy, you can add a little chilli. Here you have to heat the pan in the same way. Sprinkle a little water so that the temperature of the pan gets set here and you can make it even without oil. Look, this way you have to pour the batter in the center of the pan and you have to keep the gas flame medium here. If you wish, you can pour a little oil on top like this. If you want to make it with zero oil then it can be prepared in a non-stick pan without oil also. You have to let it cook on one side for 2 minutes. Then turn it around like this. And look at this, you have to let it cook from the other side also for 2 minutes. And one more thing, if you want to make it more spongy then you can use a little baking powder in it. Your dough will be ready to become completely spongy. Look how amazing the color has come here.

So you have to make all the chillas in this manner. Serve them hot. If you want to give it for your children’s school tiffin, you can give it for the school tiffin. Look at this, how amazing the color has come below also. So friends, if you liked this video of mine, please like, share and comment. Ok friends, see you with a new video. Thank you.
